The German project BAIMplus aims at supporting the active and independent participation of people with reduced mobility, particularly elderly people, in public transport. It concentrates on the provision of accessible and adaptable information services with target group oriented information about suitable traveling opportunities or potential barriers, before and during the journey. The provision of information services strongly depends on the requirements of public transport providers as well as user needs which were investigated in the preceding project BAIM. Therefore a survey among public transport providers was undertaken to establish which information and services are already offered, planned and which are deemed useful but which cannot yet be implemented. The survey showed a strong interest in accessibility issues but also a deficit regarding innovative services (real time data and spoken dialog based systems) and accessibility issues (web accessibility).
