Deutscher Ausschuss für Stahlbau (DAst) [1] published a report about steel-glass connections, Mascha Batinger [2] did her thesis about this subject. In both publications an analytic model for bearing hole connection is presented. To verify this analytic models experiments have been performed. The ultimate tensile strength at the holes in those experiments are usually (almost)lower than the residual stress from the tempering process. Analysing the design of the bearing hole connection of both publications several problems were highlighted. In contrast to the publication the load bearing capacity in this paper is designed from a stress point of view. The acceptable level of stress is related to probability of EN1990.
