A battery powered measurement system was developed to measure topographical features of a trunk. The system consists of one transmitter and two receivers. The position of the receiver relative to the transmitter was calculated. A study on testing the accuracy of the system on four subjects was done. A video camera was used to capture all the back images when specific movement was performed. Measurements from the images were compared to those from the system. The errors on the calculated distance and angle from the system were less than 0.45cm, ranged from 30 to 45cm, and 5 degrees, ranged from 45 to 90 degrees, respectively.
